New Features Coming to Windows 10

The next major Windows 10 update, the Fall Creators Update is currently in development and beta builds have been rolling out to Windows Insiders. Here is a list of some of the features we might be seeing in this update:

  • New People area for the taskbar that allows you to pin contacts for easy communication and easy access to number of new notifications for that contact, as well as easy sharing options.

  • Microsoft Fluent Design, this is a new design system Microsoft is working on, click/tap here for more information

  • New feature that will have a settings icon on the taskbar which will open a popup with quick actions, it's possible Microsoft have decided to move them out of the Action Centre and make it purely for notifications. We're not sure if this feature will be added as the only source of information on this is a leaked image:

  • Ability to control UWP Apps' (These are the 'modern' apps that make up the majority of the store, e.g. Settings, Store, Microsoft Edge) sound from volume mixer

  • Help videos in the Settings app

  • PC Notifications for Android calls (using Cortana for Android app)

  • Story Remix, allowing you to easily collate your photos and videos. According to Microsoft "Story Remix is an evolution of the Photos app that makes it easier than ever to relive your memories and introduces video story creation from your photos and videos."

  • Many other improvements to places such as Xbox/Gaming features, Settings, UI, Storage Sense, etc..

  • New PDF features in Microsoft Edge for filling out forms, navigating, viewing, etc..

  • Many other features.
