Sleep or Hibernate?

After using your windows computer there are multiple ways to end the session. The primary thing to do is shut down, which turns of the computer completely and turns back on when pressing the physical power button on the computer. The next common option is sleep, which can be accessed through the power menu. Sleep does not turn the computer off, it locks it and turns the display off. This allows users to come back to any program left on the computer when it is woken. A final option is hibernate. Hibernate is somewhat in between shut down and sleep. It turns off the computer but saves any program or work at the time of hibernation to the boot drive. The boot drive is a partition part of the hard drive that handles the operating system and start up programs when the computer is turned on. As it adds more data to load when the computer is booted on, it can slow down computers' start up times. This mainly effects Hard Disk Drives users as solid state drives are able to load the boot drive much quicker.

Although, hibernate is not a default option in the power menu in Windows 10. To enable hibernate in the power menu;

Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Power Options > Choose what closing the lid does > Change Settings that are currently unavailable > Tick the box next to Hibernate.
