Windows 10 Creators Update

The latest version of Windows 10, the creators update (version 1703), has been in development for a while now and will come out soon. Listed below are some of the many changes coming in the update.

  • Numerous improvements to Microsoft Edge

  • You can now set tabs aside and restore them later

  • Button to show tab previews

  • Improvements that should make Edge faster, more stable and more responsive

  • Jump list support

  • EPUB support

  • Ability to export favorites to an HTML file and to import data from other browsers

  • New Run option available for downloading files which behaves similar to the Run option in Internet Explorer

  • Many other improvements

  • Night Light mode - Blue light reduction to make it easier to get to sleep at night

  • eBook support

  • Microsoft Edge can now read eBooks

  • You can now purchase eBooks from the Store app.

  • Online payment improvements

  • Many game improvements, including a new game mode, game broadcasting and a new Game section in the Settings app.

  • New app - Paint3D

  • Can be used to create objects quickly and easily

  • Easily turn 2D pictures into 3D objects

  • Share creations on Remix 3D

  • New mixed reality features for mixed reality headsets

  • Playable ads that allow you to try apps before you install them

  • Many Cortana improvements including 3rd Party developer integration and many other improvements

  • Cortana is now integrated into the Out of Box Experience, which is the setup wizard that appears when you first use Windows

  • More control over Windows Updates

  • Location bar in the Registry Editor application

  • PowerShell is now default, rather than Command Prompt

  • DPI Scaling improvements

  • Improved High DPI Support

  • More DPI scaling options

  • New UWP Windows Defender application

  • OneDrive improvements

  • New Share menu

  • Screenshot improvements

  • Accessibility improvements

  • Storage Sense - new feature that can automatically free up disk space

  • Dynamic lock - new feature that detects when you're away from your computer and locks it

  • Many changes and additions to Settings pages

  • Sign in screen will behave as though Num Lock is always on when entering a pin

  • Compact Overlay Windows - New feature that behaves like picture-in-picture modes seen in other operating systems

  • Wi-Fi Settings improvements - you can now set Wi-Fi to automatically re-enable after a certain time when you disable it

  • Action Centre improvements

  • Quick Action icons have been improved

  • Developers can now group their app notifications and override the timestamp displayed for their app's notifications

  • Notifications can now have progress bars

  • Start

  • Folders can now be created for tiles

  • You can now hide the All Apps list

  • The Personalization > Colour section in Settings now has a colour picker for your accent colour, allowing you to use any colour you want

  • New Virtual Touchpad

  • Windows now more intelligently rearranges and scales desktop icons when switching between different monitors and scaling settings

  • Quicker VPN Access

  • Account Sign-in Improvements

  • Lunar Calendar Support in the Taskbar

  • Windows Ink Improvements

  • New Surface Dial Settings in Settings app in Devices

  • New Cross-Device Experience Settings page in Settings app in System

  • Other changes and additions
